Another reason why I never give up on anyone (and rarely use the word "homophobe"). Anyone can open his or her heart...


Former Rutgers' men's basketball coach was infamous for hitting players in practice, yelling at refs, and calling his players "faggot."  So he was fired in the winter.


Fast-forward several months: he has been working with the gay educators' group GLSEN, understanding the impact of his words on youth and the locker room culture of homophobia. I am sure he entered this program to help him rehabilitate his career.  But in the process, it looks like he discovered his heart and humanity.  Read the story here. 

Homophobic behavior, but there are no "homophobes."  Just people waiting to discover their humanity.
