Read about it here. To be fair, Obama did the same by disavowing a 1990s questionare saying he favored marriage equality. The difference is that he has become the most progressive president on LGBT issues while if Romney becomes president, he is likely not to do anything that offends his conservative base. In fact, he will likely appoint more conservative "activist" judges who think gay people are second class citizens (and that corporations have more individual rights than we do.) :)
