It feels good to watch the Academy Awards and see such non-commercial, high-quality independent films do so well. All three movies take courage to watch as well as to make. Facing the difficulties of life -- the hardship of war, child abuse, and children without families -- has a beauty all its own. Tonight, I was inspired by the quality of the winning movies and the winning artists. It was a good night.P.S. Two other nominated films, An Education and A Single Man, were excellent too.
