The spiritual talk I gave at the Gay Buddhist Sangha on Sunday: "Zen & the Art of Being an Embodied Gay Man"
On Sunday, while I was nervous about being so vulnerable in public, I gave a highly personal talk about my journey to becoming more open-hearted and more embodied man. I spoke about how my Zen Buddhist practice has been "a powerful container and catalyst" for personal growth and development, and the internalized homophobia that I and the gay men of my generation have to overcome.
Maybe the most emotionally-vulnerable part of my talk was bearing witness to my 25-year-old self (photo below) and how he is being held by the Joe of today. Thanks to my friends for coming out and supporting me at this event.
Watch the video for yourself and feel free to send me your comments or thoughts.

Thank you Joe for sharing so openly about your life's path. It gave me pause to reflect on my own life and where I am today.
