The answer is easy: the LGBT, women, and other minorities are challenging the old social order in America where mostly white straight men made and enforced their rules for their own benefit. And these same forces of fear that have declared war on women are opposing LGBT rights at every turn.
Even more importantly, on spiritual and moral levels, no one is free until all of us are free. All beings are interconnected -- that was the essential teaching of Christ, Buddha, etc.
