These sincere and naive young gay Republicans explain why they want to belong a party that clearly loathes them

The GOP has shifted far to the right on social issues while the rest of the country has nudged to the left.  It must be hard for the young gay men in this video to be surrounded by tea party types and religious extremists who insist that gay people are second class citizens and don't deserve full and equal rights.  As long as these young men are actively trying to change the GOP -- like Fred Karger has done, I support them in their endeavors even though I disagree with them on many political issues.

One contradiction with gay conservatives is how many of them live in "blue states" or in large liberal cities, where, to a great extent, their lives are protected by laws and ordinances enacted by liberal LGBT activists and Democratic politicians. How conservative would these gay Republicans be if they lived, day-to-day, in suburban Alabama or rural Utah, with the rabid GOP base?
